Info-session «Development of Water Resource Management Strategies for Communities»

At the recent info session organized by Economy of Trust Ukraine, we discussed a critically important topic for every community focused on effective economic development – strategies for managing local water resources. During the online event, communities were introduced to the concept of a comprehensive approach to minimizing the risks of diminishing water resources in conditions of high vulnerability of centralized water supply and wastewater systems.
🔹 Jürgen Bischhaus, founder of JC Environment AB, presented an innovative vision for decentralizing Ukraine’s water infrastructure. He provided detailed insights into decentralized treatment systems – container modules that operate fully autonomously, allow rapid response to water crises, enhance community safety, and enable the reuse of treated water for irrigation, technical needs, and local ecosystems.
🔹 Adrian Letzner, owner and director of LETZTEST, introduced mobile laboratories – testing stations that allow water analysis anywhere in the community, even in areas with limited logistics capabilities. This reduces dependence on centralized laboratories, speeds up diagnostics, increases data transparency, and helps communities make evidence-based decisions.
🔹 Artem Shyra, Vice-President of Ukrainian Water Association (UWA), emphasized that data is the foundation of any water project. He outlined how communities can create water resource maps, analyze risks and forecast water shortages, and develop long-term water strategies based on scientifically grounded models.
Today, we are not just discussing the current challenges in our communities – we are offering practical solutions and support from international partners who are true experts.
